An update to Sonos's album art rules

Down the years a lot of Sonos users discovered bliss when they needed to fix their cover art to show on their Sonos devices. Sonos always had limitations on the resolution and data size of album artwork they would show in the Sonos controller.

Let's call it the gateway drug.

Looks like things have moved on. Sonos's new controllers support larger album art, both in terms of resolution and permitted data size. The new rules are:

  • Resolution no higher than 1024x1024.
  • Image data size no larger than 320Kb.

When using separate, not embedded, image files in a folder, the file must be a JPEG or GIF.

I've updated both the landing page and the blog walkthrough.

If there are other areas that bliss can help with organizing Sonos music libraries, let me know in the comments below!
