This month in digital music libraries - June 2025
June 26, 2025 in digital music by Dan Gravell
This month: the history of the “Internet Radio” feature seen on on many devices, home brewed vintage players, toilet music(!) and the more serious nature of the legal challenges of the music and tech industries, tested by Musi.
Streaming
Musi’s functionality - streaming from YouTube while restricting advertising - is clearly problematic to both the tech and music industries. It blunts both advertising and streaming income. It seems like there is questionable behaviour on both sides here… Is there a conspiracy between big tech and the music industry? Are Musi overstepping the mark in terms of their product and the way they are fighting this battle?

How about not just embedding album art inside a file, but actually burning the art onto a CD?
