Why can't I see my mapped drives in the "Browse" button?

If you want to connect to a networked music collection a common way, in Windows, is to map the drive. This represents the collection as a drive letter, e.g. Y: or Z:. The drive can then be chosen from the Browse button, or typed in manually into bliss's Music location field.

If the drive is not shown in the Browse button, and typing the drive name does not work in the Music location field, you should check that bliss is not running as a different user. To do this:

  1. Right click the "Start bliss" shortcut.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Click Compatibility.
  4. Look for Run this program as administrator. If it is checked, uncheck it.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart bliss.

restart bliss. You should now be able to see the mapped drives.

The underlying cause is that when you map a network drive you do so for a given user of your computer. If it's run as a different user, which occurs when Run this program as administrator is checked, you won't see the same drives.
